The story follows a group of siblings who revisits their childhood home which has become one of the most popular haunted houses in the country. As adults, they are now forced back to experience tragedy lurking in the shadows of Hill House and the ghosts of their pasts. Captivating dialogue, great acting, and horror of different shapes and sizes make this TV show scary and mysterious. In other words, a great show to watch before Halloween.

Inspired by true mysteries and historical tragedies, The Terror takes us to the terrifying and eerie atmosphere of the Arctic in season one. The crew of a real-life Royal Naval expedition discovers a monstrous polar bear-like predator, and the expedition quickly turns into a game of survival against the gothic horror that stalks the ships, the elements of nature, and themselves. Constant feelings of hopelessness and creepiness, tied with superb acting, makes The Terror a great scary TV show.

The creator of The Haunting Of Hill House, Mike Flanagan, is also the scary genius behind Midnight Mass. In this mini series, we are introduced to an isolated island community that experiences indescribable events after the arrival of a charismatic but mysterious young priest. Dubbed as a drama series with hints of horror, you can certainly enjoy this show even if horror is not your usual cup of tea. Mildly spooky and mysterious with intriguing characters, Midnight Mass proves to be a good TV show to prepare for Halloween.

If you enjoy a slower-paced, supernatural story then this is the one for you. But don’t be fooled, Archive 81 is still super creepy but without extreme gore and silly jump scares. When archivist Dan Turner takes on a mysterious job restoring a collection of videotapes from 1994, he finds himself reconstructing the work of a documentary filmmaker and her investigation into a dangerous cult. Suspenseful and thriller-like, Archive 81 is a refreshing addition to the horror genre and one you should definitely check out.

Yes, he is back. Mike Flanagan makes a hat trick on this list with The Haunting Of Bly Manor, and why not? Arguably, he knows what he is doing when it comes to horror TV shows. The Haunting Of Bly Manor follows a young nanny who gets hired by a man to look after his niece and nephew after their parent's tragic death. Soon after she arrives at the Bly estate, strange things start to happen and a grim history starts to unravel. The series starts off slow, but the second half makes it all worth it. An emotional story about grief and love mixed with a ghostly atmosphere makes The Haunting Of Bly Manor a great horror show.

We know that Spanish horror can really send shivers down our spines. 30 Coins is a strong contender if you are looking to get your heart rate pumping. This Spanish series follows an exiled priest and exorcist, Father Vergara, who tries to escape his demons while living in a remote village in Spain. Supernatural with both good and evil, this is an excellent show you’ll want to binge-watch.
The Midnight Club (2022-, IMDb M: 6.6 F: 7.1)
Knock, knock? Who’s there? Mike. Mike who? Mike Flanagan. Again. But this time, Flanagan teamed up with Leah Fong to create The Midnight Club. The story follows a group of terminally ill patients at Brightcliffe Hospital. During secret meetings at night, the group gathers to tell horror stories. Closer to a scary drama than an outright horror show, The Midnight Club feels like a teen drama that offers great entertainment with scary elements. In other words, a scary TV show worth watching.
The Watcher (2022, IMDb M: 6.7 F: 6.7)
Last but not least, is this new scary release from Netflix. With a plot filled with twists and turns, we follow a married couple moving into their new dream home. Happy and trying to settle in, they start to receive terrifying letters from a stalker threatening their safety. In other words, a horrific and mysterious situation that is bound to make you as scared as the family. Don't forget to lock your windows and doors!
